A detailed introduction to the best water filtration materials available today

In the past 5 years, the use of water filtration systems, water treatment in households has become increasingly popular. The use of a water filtration system to remove heavy metals, heavy impurities, the role of water filtration material determines 70% of water quality after filtration.

It has the effect of cleaning water, removing all impurities, dirt, toxins, heavy metals such as iron, manganese, magnesium, calcium, limestone, chlorine ... to provide high quality drinking water or Purified water for the whole family to use.

The current situation, water resources in Vietnam in recent years have been heavily polluted, not only a painful problem for ministries - departments - sectors, but "dirty water" is a problem for everyone. The use of "dirty water", well water, tap water ... contaminated with impurities, heavy metals is the cause of more than 40 human cancers. Therefore, the application of water filtration systems or buying water purification materials by themselves to make filter tanks is being propagated around the world, not just any country or any particular field.

What role does water filter material play?

Water filtration materials currently used for households and industrial water filters you often use materials including: quartz sand, gravel, activated carbon, stone, ... Between layers of filter material you need to use. the mesh has an airy surface for water to flow through, but it is small enough that the material layers do not mix.

Water purification material helps:

+ Completely remove impurities in water sources such as iron, lead, aluminum, mercury, .. especially harmful substances such as arsenic.

+ Removes impurities that cause color and smell to water, making the water source clearer and cleaner.

+ Clean organic residues in the water such as pesticides, stimulants, ..

+ Clean the germs, bacteria mixed in the water causing infectious or dermatological diseases.
The best water filtration materials today:

1. Quartz sand

Quartz sand is used in water filtration to filter suspended particles of small particle size that are unable to precipitate when left to settle naturally. During the filtration process, on the surface of quartz sand will create a filter layer to support the filtration process, especially when Fe (OH) 3 precipitates on the surface of quartz sand, it will help absorb arsenic when the water source is in danger. muscles contaminated with arsenic. Quartz sand is a very good agent in holding high viscosity cotton precipitates that are difficult to separate and to filter.

Using quartz sand has many advantages, does not react with chemical agents in water and does not affect water quality. Quartz sand can be used for a long time, and can be washed regularly when the filter surface is deposited into thick layers. Quartz sand has a small particle size, so it has a large specific surface so the filtration efficiency is high.

2. Vietnam coconut shell activated carbon

Activated carbon is one of the most popular filtration materials available today. However, this is also the type that consumers have the most difficult choice, because there are also imported raw activated carbon at expensive prices that not everyone can use this material.

Today, we will introduce a type of activated carbon produced by Vietnam based on the most modern technology in the world: Vietnam coconut shell activated carbon.

In addition to being used for purifying the air environment and for medical use, this type of coal is also used in water filtration technology and water-soluble substances. Due to its high adsorption properties, activated carbon is used in water treatment for the purposes of:

- Helps remove particles, impurities in water when passing through activated carbon thanks to tiny holes in the coal structure.

Coal molar surface will attract water-soluble chemicals and impurities and keep them. With the "non-absorbent" but "oil-absorbing" properties, activated carbon has a strong effect on many chemicals that contain chlorine, benzene or industrial chemicals dissolved in water. Therefore, activated carbon cleans traces of water-soluble heavy metals, thoroughly cleans dissolved organic matter, deodorizes and tastes, especially industrial wastewater contains toxic organic particles or The element has a high surface strength that prevents biological processes.

- Eliminate excess chlorine in water. When chlorinating water, often keep a residual amount of chlorine during contact to ensure the ability to continue sterilization on the pipeline. This excess chlorine causes unpleasant odors, activated carbon can be used to reduce.

- Activated carbon, after "No" absorption, will saturate the amount of impurities and thus no longer have an effective filtering effect. It must be replaced after a certain period to ensure the highest filtration efficiency.

3. Manganese Sand

Manganese (Mn) sand is a light-weight ore coated with an outer shell, which gives the filter particle a contact filtration ability and the intermediate itself also increases the ability of the grain to oxidize. . This sheath gives the grain a wider range of performance than any of the intermediate iron filters. Due to the small average mass of the grain itself, the amount of water required for backwashing is lower than that of other filter particles.

Manganese sand is currently widely used in popular water purifiers today, with a very good effect in separating heavy metals from water.

- Manganese sand acts as a surface oxidizer used to precipitate Iron, Manganeese, Arsenic, H2S, deodorizing fishy odors. These substances are separated from the water after being oxidized and form a precipitate of dirt that attaches to the surface of the filter particles.

Advantages of Manganese sand in water filtration:

- No need to use chemicals and attached equipment such as chemical dispenser, metering pump.

- No need to periodically regenerate with permanganate solution such as Manganese green sand.

- Simple operation.

- Much lower price than imported materials such as Pyrolox, Birm or Manganese green sand.

- Can be put into used filter tanks without changing the tank structure.

- Periodically wash back and forth with water.
